Like Father, Like Daughter

Amy Glover of Cumming, Georgia, currently an English major in her junior year at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, recently received a nice surprise. Glover, who writes for her college newspaper, The Saint, also wrote race stories for Atlanta Dragway in 2008. A few weeks ago, she learned she was selected as the National Dragster Contributor of the Year for 2008, and was invited to the National Hot Rod Association Division Two awards banquet in Orlando, Florida to accept the award. National Dragster, with a circulation of over 80,000, is the weekly publication distributed by the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). Glover raced under the NHRA sanction at Atlanta Dragway in the Junior Dragster class for six years, which helped her learn the sport and some of the participants. On the podium, Glover mentioned she kidded her dad earlier in the year about stealing his title away, and as it turned out, backed up her claim by earning the award. She thanked her dad, who has previously won the award, for helping and inspiring her to earn this achievement.
