AMA Prostar at SGMP
By Marvin T. Smith
Larry Spiderman McBride leads qualifying at the AMA Prostar event at South Georgia Motorsports Park. There was a light turnout of Top Fuel cycles at the event, but Spiderman showed his dominance by outqualifying the number two rider Tommy Smith by .95 seconds. Spiderman's 6.017 at 229.78 totally outclassed his competitors. McBride found problems in a morning warmup and quickly changed motors. He made a short check out pass in the first qualifying session and shook the tire. The team struggled all afternoon to find a gremlin, but appeared to have it figured out by the second qualifying session. Paul Gast ran a 7.03 187 to lead qualifying in Pro Stock round 1. Eliminations begin at 11:00 on Sunday.
