Great weather and large fields of cars provided a great race at SGMP. In Saturday’s event, Richard Selph won Super Pro over Kevin Powers in a great race. Selph had a reaction time of .009 and ran 4.744 on his 4.74 dial to narrowly defeat Powers’ .010 rt and 5.507 on his 5.50 dial! On Sunday, Selph reached the finals again, only to lose to Marcus Crews’ dragster. This time Crews had the reaction time advantage and ran closer to his dial in. Crews had been running strong all day.

In the Pro Category, former track champion Brandon Wood won on Saturday night. In Sunday’s race, Kenny Bevins took the starting line advantage and beat a breaking-out Ken Grant.

Saturday Sportsman action was won by Kenny Bevins, the son of Sunday’s Pro Winner. How is that for family dominance? Kenny defeated a fouling Britt Estes. In Sunday’s race, Chris Adams beat Joe Tillman in a double breakout final. Adams’ better light forced Tillman to break out by almost two tenths.

A large field of Jr. Dragsters turned out for the event in anticipation of the big Jr. Dragster race coming up in April. In the Jr. Intermediate category, Jordan Arnold beat a fouling A. J. Haspe on Saturday, and on Sunday Jordan again made it to the final round only to lose to Morgan Bennett who took a strong starting line advantage. In the Advanced Jr. Dragster category, former track champion Bobby Mouat beat Cody Harrison with a narrow starting line advantage on Saturday. On Sunday, Corey Cox beat Bradley Motter. Motter took a narrow reaction time advantage, but Cox ran a 7.915 on his 7.90 dial to take the win. In a Sunday runoff between the Intermediate winner and the Advanced winner, Morgan Bennett, ran a 9.723 on her 9.71 dial to beat Corey Cox’ foul and breakout run.
