WJ Runs 210 mph in testing at SGMP! Marvin T. Smith photo.

WJ Goes 6.613 - 210.08 and KJ Runs 6.604 - 209.95 in Testing at SGMP!

by Marvin T. Smith

The Johnson clan, Warren and Kurt, have been testing at South Georgia Motorsports Park this week. Tuesday was Kurt's big day. He ran 6.681 @ 208.26, 6.678 @ 208.46, 6.689 @ 207.75 and a mind boggling 6.604 @ 209.95. WJ appeared to have some problems, and ran a best of 6.744 @ 207.78 while I was there.

But Wednesday was WJ's turn. He put down a 6.619 @ 209.75 and an awesome 6.613 @ 210.08 to become the first NHRA pro stock car to break the 210mph barrier. So as this is written, KJ owns the track ET record at 6.604 and WJ has the mph record at over 210. These are the best numbers ever posted by NHRA pro stockers.

Also in attendance testing his new Jon Kaase Hemi was Art Hodges with the California Car Cover MOPAR IHRA pro stock. The team was having some problems while I was in attendance on Tuesday, but made some strong launches.

Roy Hill was on hand with his Drag Racing school. I'm sorry I didn't obtain all the names of the students, but I do know that Brad Plourd was on hand to get his Pro Stock license, and Shaun Carlson was there brushing up in hopes of getting a ride for 2006.

SGMP is the place to test!
