Southern Nostalgia Shootout at SGMP on October 24, 25, and 26, 2008!
Good news! South Georgia Motorsports Park will once again present the Southern Nostalgia Shootout on October 24, 25, and 26. Our first event was a big success with Don Garlits as our headliner. Last year, the event was not held as the track was in the process of being sold. The track is now owned by Rowland Wood (CSR Performance) and managed by Tim Fleming, and the event is back on track. Returning to organize the event is Mark Adams. Mark will be assisted by Denny Fenstermaker (memory lane and cackle event), Marvin Smith (media), and Clay Shill.
The event will be organized similar to the first event, and will include a car show and swap meet area in addition to the racing. Events for children are also planned. Headline persons and purse structure have not been set, but look for further announcements. Note that this event is the weekend after the Good Guys event at Bowling Green, and the week before the nostalgia event at Bradenton, Florida. Racers could plan a nice circuit/Florida vacation in conjunction with these events. For further information, contact Mark Adams ( hotrodfab@bellsouth.net ) for general inquiries, Denny Fenstermaker ( pipedreamracing@msn.com ) for questions about displaying or cackling your historic car, or Marvin Smith ( mtsmith@valdosta.edu ) for media information. BEEE THERE.
