Garlits to bring Swamp Rat VIII to Southern Nostalgia Shootout

Big Daddy Don Garlits, number one drag racer of all time, will bring Swamp Rat VIII to the Southern Nostalgia Shootout at South Georgia Motorsports Park, October 27-29. Don will be making smoky blasts (restricted by safety rules to less than one-eighth mile) and participating in the Cacklefest event on Saturday night. Come and see Big Daddy on track and meet him in
the pit area. Come and see how drag racing was in the past.

Swamp Rat VIII was originally constructed in 1964, and is the first in the Swamp Rat series to utilize the new Chrysler 426 Hemi. It was originally driven by Connie Swingle and for a short time in 1965 it was driven by Carl Schiefer when Big Daddy was suffering from back injuries. Originally raced as Swamp Rat VIII, it was also called the Wynns Jammer in 1965 when Big
Daddy drove it. The original car was modified into Swamp Rat 10 by extending its wheelbase to 175 inches. The car Garlits will bring to South Georgia Motorsports park is a recreation of the original Swamp Rat VIII built for modern events.

The Southern Nostalgia Shootout will include racing in ten nostalgia classes, a car show, swap meet, and car corral. For more information, go to SGMPracing.com.
