Warren Johnson Rolls Off 16th in Dallas

Warren Johnson and the GM Performance Parts Grand Am Racing team completed a solid qualifying performance on Saturday at the O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals in Dallas, Texas. In each of his first three attempts, Johnson bettered his previous performance, with his best effort of 6.819 seconds, 202.73 mph slotting the GM Performance Parts Grand Am in the sixteenth and final qualifying position at the Texas Motorplex.

"The most important part of today's performance is that we qualified for Sunday's final eliminations. After all, you can't win if you don't first establish a position from which to strike. The encouraging news for the entire category, however, is that the performance gap from top to bottom has shrunk considerably from where it was a few months ago. Other cars have stepped up recently, and I'm confident we will be doing so shortly.

"Our DRCE 3 program continues to show steady progress to where it now matches up well with our strongest DRCE 2 engines. Unfortunately, it's a little too late for us this year, but I believe it gives us a good springboard for next year.

"However, for now our attention is squarely focused on tomorrow's eliminations. Over the last few months, we have had to continually adapt our chassis set-up to the different power levels and engines we've been using. However, we now have a pretty good handle on things and our GM Performance Parts Grand Am is making nice straight runs. We'll make a few adjustments trying to pick up the pace, and see what we can do tomorrow."
