Spiderman McBride wins AMA Dragbike event at South Georgia Motorsports Park

Larry Spiderman McBride won Top Fuel at Sunday's AMA Dragbike event at South Georgia Motorsports Park in a convincing manner. He ran five second elapsed times every day of the event, capping off a final round victory over Chris Hand with a 5.936 at 220.19 mph to beat Hand's troubled 6.45 168. McBride qualified number one on Saturday and never looked back. He also ran a 5.93 in round one.

Travis Davis won Funnybike with a 6.58 at 207 over a fouling Champ Wagoner. Low elapsed time went to J. Sternotti on the Ray Price Nitro Harley at 6.388 at 222.55 mph. Sternotti lost in round one.

Number one qualifier E. McKinney won Pro Mod with a final round 6.660 at 192.63. The elapsed time was low for the event. Runner-up was David Vantine who trailed with a 6.80 at 195.

Mike Slowe won Pro Street and set a new national record of 7.171 seconds. His final round opponent was G. Gooch who ran a 7.45 in his losing effort. Slowe ran a string of elapsed times of 7.17, 7.24, 7.22, and a final round 7.20 and ran over 200 mph every pass on Sunday, including a best of 201.94 in round one.

John Fernandez beat Rickie Gadson for Super Street, but Gadson did win the Super Sport class. Top Gas went to John Schwartz. John Hall won Real Street, Michael Smith won Street Fighter, Tom Edwards won Super Comp, and Ken Edwards won Street E.T.
