Larry Spiderman McBride qualified number 1 in Top Fuel for the umpteenth time in AMA Dragbike competition during the B&B Bikeweek Nationals at South Georgia Motorsports Park. On Friday the Spiderman made a 5.99 checkout pass during the test and tune session. In the first round of qualifying on Saturday, McBride bettered his time to a 5.97 at only 224 mph placing him number 1 in the three bike top fuel field. In the afternoon session, McBride smoked the tire and peddled to a spectacular 6.95 at 227.
Apparently this year they are allowing the Injected Nitro bikes in FunnyBike. Judging from the record performances, they will be put back in Top Fuel. Joey Sternotti on the Ray Price Harley ran a 6.38 222 and a 6.46 to qualify number 1 by a large margin.
537 Bikes have run so far, making this one of the largest fields in AMA Dragbike history. Eliminations will be held Sunday.
