ACDelco Cobalt pilot Kurt Johnson started his qualifying efforts for the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals in fine fashion on Friday, posting one of the quickest passes in each of the two sessions. After opening with a fourth-quick 6.766-second pass, KJ rocketed through the quarter-mile timers at Maple Grove Raceway in 6.739-seconds with a top speed of 204.54 mph to sit atop the 29-car Pro Stock field midway through qualifying.

"We came here looking to get back on our game with everything working the way it should. We started with a decent run this afternoon, and we fine-tuned it a little bit for the second session, running quick enough to be on top, which is all that matters.

"As close as the competition is in Pro Stock, you have to nit-pick every detail, getting every thousandth you can out of the car. So far this weekend, we've been able to do just that, and tomorrow, we'll see if we can make our ACDelco Cobalt even better."
