Tuesday Testing at South Georgia Motorsports Park
by Marvin T. Smith
Pre-Southern Nationals testing continued on Tuesday at South Georgia Motorsports Park. After running a 7.08 and 7.09 on Monday evening, Chip Ellis took the S&S Buell to runs of 7.15, 7.15, 7.16, and 7.19 in the heat of the day. Watch him in Atlanta!
Keith Baker brought out his new CCT Corvette Pro Mod and put down a great series of runs. Powered by "Godzilla," a 738 inch Gene Fulton motor, Keith ran a 4.19, 4.17, 4.13, 4.127 @178.68, 4.20, and had two other aborted passes. This car is flying. Watch for it at the ADRL Dragpalooza in a little over a week at SGMP.
Lindsey Wood made a huge series of passes in her Super Comp dragster. Lindsey took advantage of the SGMP pre-Gatornationals warm-up and then went on to win the Gators. Watch for her in Atlanta.
The Wood family also brought out their Top Sportsman car raced by Jason Wood. After breaking the transmission in the morning, parts were found from local vendors and the car rebuilt at the track. In the afternoon, Jeffrey Barker, who will drive the car at the Southern Nationals, took the helm and ran a best of 7.286 at 187 before I left the track.
Testing continues on Wednesday.
