Nitro/Alcohol FC's, Fuel Altered,etc. at Southeastern's 50th Anniversary

Dallas, Georgia - One of the nation's oldest drag strips, Southeastern Dragway in Dallas, Georgia will be celebrating their 50th anniversary on Saturday, July 9, 2005 with a 3-day race that will feature nitro and alcohol Funny Cars, Fuel Altereds and jet powered Funny Cars along with over 300 of the southeast's best competitors.

Southeastern Dragway opened it's gates for the first time on July 4, 1955 and has been in continuous operation ever since and is the oldest drag strip in the southeast. Many of the superstars of drag racing have raced at the track and the 50th anniversary celebration is sure to bring back memories from years past.

"I wanted to do something special for this race to celebrate the occasion and the show we're having will be second to none," track operator Gene Fuller said. "We've got a great line-up of nostalgia Funny Cars headlining the show that will be coming in from as far away as California to do battle on the Southeastern Dragway 1/8th mile. This will be the biggest event we've ever produced and the Saturday night show will be the highlight of the weekend."

One of the featured races will be a special match race between Virgil Hartman's South Carolina based Ford Mustang nitro Funny Car "Runnin' Wild" who will be taking on Jeff Gaynor's nitro Barracuda "The Beast from the West" Funny Car from Southern California. These two teams have been having a running "war of words" on the internet and will be settling the argument once and for all as to who has the quickest and fastest nostalgia nitro Funny Car.

Other nitro funny cars include Steve Nichol's Camaro out of Delaware, Rick Stambaugh's Virginia based Corvette, home state favorite Donnie Reeves in his Mustang and Rob Bruce's Dodge Charger from Michigan.

Also a slew of alcohol Funny Cars will be on hand plus a very rare appearance of the wild Fuel Altereds of Mitch King and Rob Bruce.

Last but not least will be special exhibition runs by Gary Fore's jet powered Mustang Funny Car who will make the long tow in from Missouri to literally set the night on fire.

Tickets for Saturday night's show are $25 and kids under 12 will be admitted free with a paying adult.
