VANDERGRIFF GOES OUT IN SECOND ROUND IN GAINESVILLE

Gainesville, Fla., (March 19, 2006)- Bob Vandergriff, Jr., and his Team UPS Top Fuel dragster made it to the second round of eliminations at the AC DELCO NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway on Sunday before losing to eventual winner David Grubnic. Vandergriff handed Hillary Will a first round loss by running the sessions second quickest pass with a 4.522 seconds at 326.08 mph. "Jim Dupuy had the car moving," said Vandergriff. "We have been plagued this weekend by parts failure in the bell housing on 4 consecutive runs. It's challenging. We are going back to figure out why these parts are failing, but I'm really proud of how my team is working and giving me an awesome race car to compete with. This team is growing in leaps and bounds with each race."

Considering that the team began preparing the car to compete just 10 weeks ago, their goal is to join the Top Ten. Vandergriff is currently in 15th position in the POWERade points chase.
Vandergriff and Team UPS are looking forward to the O'Rielly NHRA Spring Nationals in Houston, Tx., March 31-April 2, 2006.
