173 Racers Win Cash at BTE/Citgo SUNSHINE BRACKET NATIONALS!

(July 29-31 - Adel, Georgia) Some of the nation's top bracket racers packed the pits at South Georgia Motorsports Park to enjoy the CSR Division Two Sunshine Bracket Nationals, sponsored by Wheeler Motorsports. Racers braved the hot racing conditions for two complete races and a rain shortened Sunday event. A special 10.5 tire race and Gambler's races were held Thursday as a warm up for the weekend.
THURSDAY
Bryan Goethe from Jacksonville, Florida put on a show for the crowd when he used a 5.639 to defeat Melvin Horne of Glen St Mary, Florida for the $1000 winner's purse in the special 10.5 Limited Modified class, sponsored by Wheeler.
Gene Holton from Leesburg, Georgia defeated David Kehren in the Sportsman Gambler's race. Scott Richardson used his Camaro to defeat Jeff Keen of Palmetto, Florida for the Super Pro Gambler cash.
FRIDAY
Chris Weaver from Florida was the Friday Afco Super Pro winner in the Barker Trailer Sales Pace American Run for the Trailer. The legendary Chip Horton won the Dynatech Sportsman portion and Alyson Depriest was the Race Tech Jr Dragster winner.
Troy Williams, Jr from Bradenton, Florida outlasted a who's who of bracket racers from the south in CSR Division Two competition. Williams Jr, a former Million Dollar Race winner, used a .002 light in the final to defeat Dwayne Roberts, who turned it red in the final.
However, all was not lost for Roberts, who was the first racer of the year to take advantage of the Meziere Enterprises cash. Roberts made the run in round four of competition in Afco Super Pro. The R&L Carriers Miller dragster ran 4.710 on a 4.71 with a .000 light. Dwayne had only two decals on his car, the Meziere dead on decal and DragRaceResults.com. The lone semi-finalist was Kurt Damron, Jr from Fruitland Park, Florida.
Jeff Adkinson drove his '91 Camaro to a win over Woodville, Alabama racer Luke Bogacki in Dynatech Sportsman. In the final, Adkins used a .007 to Bogacki's .009 light for the win. The lone semi-finalist was Clayton Clark from Bowling Green, Kentucky. All three racers, Adkins, Bogacki, and Clark made big moves in the Nesbitt Performance Championship Points standings.
Eric Rodden made a move in both CSR Division Two and the Race Tech World Championship by defeating Brian Chason from Whigam, Georgia in Race Tech Jr Dragster. Rodden's '04 Race Tech was on target with an 8.763 on a 8.75, coupled with a great .037 light, but Chason hung the cherry for runner up honors handing the win to Rodden.
Stoney Gaskins from Valdosta, Georgia won his second four foot tall monster trophy this year in Jeg's Trophy when he drove his '65 Chevy truck to a win over Daniel Salyer's Monte Carlo.
SATURDAY
During eliminations Saturday, rain storms halted action at the BTE/Citgo Wheeler Power products event. The event was completed Sunday. Before the rain hit, the Barker Trailer Sales Pace American Run for the Trailer was completed, with Jeff Keen winning the Super Pro money. Kenny Bevins was the Sportsman winner and Eric Rodden was the Race Tech Jr Dragster winner.
SUNDAY
Saturday's event picked right back up where it left off and was completed Sunday. The MGM Best Appearing car award went to Jarrett Naumann's Lady Luck, Florida based '63 Chevy Nova. The MGM Best engineered car award was presented to Wade Lanier from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida for his '05 Mike Bos dragster.
Jeremy Bargo from Barbourville, Kentucky won his first ever BTE/Citgo event in Afco Super Pro by defeating Carey "CROW' Locke from Alamo, Georgia. In the final, Bargo was .010 to Locke's .014 on the tree, good enough for the $5,000 payday. The lone semi-finalist was "Flyin" Bryan Jones from Orange Park, Florida.
BJ Bianchi from Palmetto, Florida had a $2500 payday in Dynatech Sportsman when he defeated Shane Parker from Adel, Georgia. BJ used a .027 light and an 8.287 on a 8.25 for the win in his Mustang.
April Spell outlasted a large field of cars in Race Tech Jr Dragster for the win, big check and cash. In the final, Spell won a double break-out affair against Sarah Crosby.
Jeg's Trophy class was won by Lake City, Florida racer Daniel Salyers. Salyers took the win after Eddie Kinner from Port Charlotte, Florida hung the red light on the tree in the final.
In the Sunday edition of Barker Trailer Sales Run for the Trailer, Jason Kline from Gainesville, Florida went 5.360 on a 5.36 for the $200 and potential Super Pro first round bye. In Dynatech Sportsman, Willie "Grump" Gutherie went 6.660 on a 6.66 with a .006 light for the cash. Ladson Selph from Alamo, Georgia went 8.987 on an 8.98 with a .031 light for the money and first round bye in Jr Dragster.
Rains washed out the action for race three at South Georgia Motorsports Park Sunday evening. Twenty seven Super Pro drivers left with a cash split of a $8800 purse. In Dynatech Sportsman, the remaining eight cars all left with $800 each.
Gene Holton defeated Kelly King for the four foot trophy Sunday night in Jegs Trophy.
