VALSPAR COMMITS TO DON SCHUMACHER'S EIGHT-TEAM OPERATION

INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 21, 2005) - Valspar, which earlier this year came on board Don Schumacher Racing's organization in the 2005 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series as an associate sponsor of the Team Mopar HEMI-powered Dodge Stratus Pro Stock car driven by Richie Stevens Jr., has committed to all eight DSR teams.

Founded in 1806 and headquartered in Minneapolis, Minn., Valspar is the sixth largest paint and coatings company in the world. Its broad portfolio includes decorative and protective coatings for wood, metal and plastic in the industrial markets, interior and exterior decorative paints and aerosols for architectural use, coatings and inks for rigid packaging containers, automotive and fleet refinish products, floor coatings, and specialty polymers, composites and colorants.

"Having Valspar join our Don Schumacher Racing family as an associate sponsor on all eight of our teams is an honor and privilege," said team owner Schumacher. "Our goal is to build on that association by providing Valspar a uniquely visible arena to continue to showcase its products, with an aim toward Valspar becoming the paint supplier to our other business partners."

"We are really excited about the exposure we have already received as part of Don Schumacher's eight-team organization," said Randy Tinsley, Valspar's motorsports program manager. "In the past we have been the primary sponsor on one car, but now to have our name on six cars and two motorcycles in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series is just unbelievable.

"What Don Schumacher has done for us as far as our identification on each car and on the trailers is concerned is just incredible," Tinsley continued.

Valspar is not a sponsor in name only. The Schumacher Racing vehicles and trailers are painted and/or clear-coated in Valspar products and Gary Scelzi's helmet and the Mopar/Oakley Dodge Stratus Funny Car sport Valspar's House of Kolor brand logo.

"We are more dedicated to the sport this year than we have ever been," added George Krul, general manager of Valspar's automotive refinish division, based in Grand Prairie, Texas. "We've always been committed to Richie Jr. and Sr., of course, but this is the first time we're dedicating a motorsports manager to the entire program.

"With this kind of exposure and the kind of commitment we've made to Schumacher Racing, dedicating people to the program is what we're really excited about. We're going to have Valspar people at the track, customers at the track, and everybody who has already been at the season-opening Pomona event is really excited about the hospitality they received from Schumacher and his entire organization."

Don Schumacher Racing is the largest team in NHRA pro history, and includes Whit Bazemore, driver of the Matco Tools Iron Eagle Dodge Stratus, and Gary Scelzi, in the Mopar/Oakley Dodge Stratus, in the Funny Car class, as well as reigning Top Fuel champion Tony Schumacher, in the U.S. Army Dragster, Antron Brown and Angelle Sampey, on the U.S. Army Pro Stock Motorcycles, and Pro Stock Car drivers Jeg Coughlin Jr., in the Jeg's Mail Order/Mopar Dodge, and Richie Stevens Jr. in the Team Mopar HEMI-powered Dodge Stratus.
