Hines Wins NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Bike Championship; Kalitta, Force, Anderson and Ellis Top Qualifiers at Pomona
Doug Kalitta leads the Top Fuel field with a 4.472 @ 332.02 and is followed closely by two other cars in the 4.40s - Tony Schumacher (4.485 @ 327.11) and David Baca (4.487 @ 327.43). Twenty three Top Fuelers were attempting to qualify.
John Force dips into the 4.60s again, leading the quickest Funny Car field in history - John's 4.698 to Tony Bartone's 4.854. Twenty six funny cars attempted to qualify for the sixteen spots.
Greg Anderson breaks another record by qualifying #1 in Pro Stock for the 16th time in 2004. Greg ran a 6.705 to lead the field. Kurt Johnson is the only Georgia Pro Stock racer to make the final cut with his 15th best 6.766 @ 204.08. Mark Whisnant (#19 - 6.778 @ 205.51), Warren Johnson (#21 - 6.793 @ 203.68)and Barry Grant (#25 - 6.812 @ 201.76) fail to qualify.
Chip Ellis holds onto the #1 spot in Pro Stock bike with his 7.024 @ 188.38 and Andrew Hines locks up the championship by qualifying his Harley-Davidson.
