Qualifying:Session 1 Friday: 7.224 seconds at 183.34 mph

MOHNTON, Penn. (September 17, 2004) – Chip Ellis, aboard the G2/S&S/Star Racing Buell, covered the quarter- mile drag strip at Maple Grove in 7.224 seconds as qualifying got underway this afternoon for the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals.

The run was good for the No. 5 spot as the first qualifying session for Pro Stock Bike came to an end this afternoon.

Immediately following the session, qualifying was halted due to rain. After a rain delay of approximately five hours, racing resumed, but shortly thereafter was once again interrupted by rain. This forced NHRA to cancel the remaining action for today. The scheduled qualifying sessions lost to rain today will not be made up.
